We are women! We are more than a day. We are strong brave and courageous every day!
I take this month not only to celebrate myself and the other fellow women in the #idealfirestarter family, but I celebrate us all. I feel we don’t nearly get enough credit for the things we do. We are still in a place where we are fighting for our voices to be heard, fighting for equal pay, fighting for equal rights, etc. The world sometimes forget that we are more than mothers, nurses, teachers, housekeepers, fashion designers, motivation speakers, wives, daughters, sisters, nieces, etc. We are a woman to our core. Behind the hats that we were in the home and family, we are bosses, entrepreneurs, deal closers lawyers, doctors, etc. We are in positions of power and if we could be honest, there are a lot of things that would run correctly without us. As much as the world tries to be unfair to us, it proves more and more everyday that we are a vital part of making this world run.
Here is just a list of accomplishments, that have been facilitate by a women:
2014: Ava DuVernay is the first African-American female director to receive a Golden Globe nomination and have a film nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.
2004: Phylicia Rashad, first African-American woman to win a Tony Award for Best Lead Actress in a Play.
1946: Katharine Graham first female publisher of a major American newspaper.
1935: Regina Jonas became the first woman to be ordained as a rabbi
We are treated sometimes as week, less than and as if we are not strong enough to handle the jobs of man. There would be enough time or space to list all the accomplishments of women. We are getting stronger by the way. We are worthy of praise, equal pay and acknowledgement. We are in a space and time when our voices should and will be heard the loudest. We are too important and too valuable to be quiet. We will not be silenced any longer. There is much more in the world that requires out touch and attention. Who else and can be a boss at work and carry the graces, poise and love to lead children and finesse there spouse at home? Honestly, you don’t have to like us, but you will respect us.
